Pizza Pie with Alpha Chi '19 !!

Hello & welcome back!!

This week has been quite the eventful one for Alpha Chi, and it's not over just yet! With this week being Healthy Relationships Week, our sisters have been working to bring awareness to domestic violence even more than usual. This past Sunday some of our sisters made valentine's for Meals on Wheels recipients, including veterans and individuals with disabilities or suffering from illness, while on Monday our sisters delivered cookies to other members of Greek life here at Florida State, all in honor of Healthy Relationships Week. However, the main event took place on Tuesday, February 12th, when the Beta Eta chapter of Alpha Chi Omega held their annual Pizza Pie with Alpha Chi event.
Pizza Pie with Alpha Chi is an event our sisters look forward to every year, making it even more special considering that it falls on Healthy Relationships Week. These hands don't hurt, but instead, they serve pizza!! The proceeds from Pizza Pie go towards both the Tallahassee Refuge House and the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation, with both organizations helping to bring awareness to domestic violence and help those in need. This year our sisters raised a whopping total of $4,904 to help benefit these organizations. Not only did our sisters advertise Pizza Pie on different social media platforms during the weeks leading up to the event, but they sold over 500 tickets during the pre-sale before the actual event alone. Along with this, different organizations within Greek life at Florida State purchased over 300 tickets as a whole, helping to show their support for other members of the Greek community. Along with the money that our sisters worked to raise, we sold many tickets at the event itself, along with receiving multiple, generous donations, which we are so grateful for.
The planning and hard work that went into this event just goes to show how powerful dedication to a worthy cause can be! The success that came from Pizza Pie went beyond our expectations, personally bringing me so much joy to see the difference we are able to make, right in front of my eyes. A big shout-out goes out to our new VP of Philanthropy, Jessi Bonadurer, her philanthropy committee, the 70+ sisters that volunteered at Pizza Pie, our VP of PR & Marketing, Julianna Vargas, and our T-shirt Chair, Sabrina Loiacono, for collaborating to design such amazing shirts and advertisements for the event, and everyone else who helped to make Pizza Pie possible. Thank you all so much for helping us to bring awareness to domestic violence while celebrating Healthy Relationships Week.

All the love from the 518 !!!

Pizza Pie with Alpha Chi

Last Thursday, the ladies of Alpha Chi Omega hosted Pizza Pie with Alpha Chi at their chapter house! Mindy Do, Vice President of Philanthropy, says, “Pizza Pie with Alpha Chi is a night where we invite the Tallahassee community into our home for a pizza party with pizza from Momos and Gaines Street Pies. All proceeds go directly to the Tallahassee Refuge House!” Over $1000 was raised and we had a great turnout!

Sarah Smith, VP Risk Management, and Mindy Do, VP Philanthropy, did an amazing job!

Our donations to Refuge House #AXODVA #AltruisticAXO #VioletAgainstViolence

We appreciate the relationship we have with Refuge House. We help them monetarily through fundraising events like #PizzaPiewithAlphaChi and #DonutsforDVA. Sisters lend helping hands physically as well, by volunteering when needs arise such as painting or helping with Halloween carnivals. Refuge House holds trainings for our sisters, allowing AXOs to understand more about domestic violence awareness, and how we can help and advocate for the cause.

Healthy Relationships Week

February 9th-13th was Healthy Relationships Week! The women of the Beta Eta chapter of Alpha Chi held and participated in events, put together by Philanthropy Chair Lauren Flannery, throughout the week to celebrate healthy and loving relationships.  The week kicked off with an ice cream pajama party.  Sisters came to the house dawned in onesies and other wacky pajamas to bond and laugh over ice cream, fruit platters, and veggie platters.
To spread the word about domestic violence awareness and to get other students on campus thinking about the relationships in their lives, on Tuesday sisters wore the Alpha Chi Omega Domestic Violence Awareness philanthropy t-shirt with a healthy relationship sticker around campus.
On Wednesday, Alpha Chi set up a station at Market Wednesday! In the middle of the union and surrounded by all kinds of other organizations, sisters worked a free photo booth open to the public.
Finishing Healthy Relationships Week with a bang was the philanthropy event Pizza Pie with Alpha Chi. For five dollars a head, guests were ushered into the dinning room and served pizza and refreshments while Alpha chi sister Rebecca Epstein played the piano and sang.  This is the first year the Beta Eta chapter hosted Pizza Pie with Alpha Chi and the turn out was incredible. The event beginning at 6:30pm produced a line that was out the door and down the block at 6:15pm. Ultimately, 549 people attended the event, which raised just under $2000.  “I was definitely not prepared for how much support I got from everyone” says Philanthropy Chair Lauren Flannery, who is thrilled to have raised to much so donate to the Refuge House of Tallahassee.
