Successful Par-Tee Weekend..

This past week/weekend was Beta Eta's annual philanthropy week. Ending with Par-Tee Charity Golf Tournament and Tea on Saturday. Below are some photos from the event. We will be back on Wednesday to give full details of the event, including money raised for the Refuge House!!! & the charities the winners selected, etc..  Hope you can make it for Par-Tee 2012!

Alpha Chi's Annual Philanthropy Week

This week marks Alpha Chi Omega's annual philanthropy week!

Each day of this week, the ladies of Alpha Chi come together and provide several events for their community which exhibit the leadership and support each has for their philanthropy.

Listed below are the events in which each sister must participate in.

Tuesday (Yesterday) - Walk a Mile in Her Shoes: If you happened to be on campus at 5 pm, you probably saw plenty of men walking around in high heal shoes. Yes, we managed to find sizes twelve through fourteen for these willing gentleman to run around Florida State's campus in high heal shoes to support the efforts of awareness. It was a comic relief at it's best!

Thursday - The sisters gather around their front lawn, circling hand-in-hand to form the DVA vigil. Many other Panhellenic women and local Tallahassee patrons who support the cause also come together to join this inspirational vigil.

Friday - All of the Par Tee guests are invited for Mom Marie's famous Friday Lunch! This will provide the golfers a chance to meet the sisters that host the golf tournament, and understand the importance of Domestic Violence Awareness. It is also a fantastic way to feed all of the hungry fraternity boys who's passion for volunteering and playing for a good cause is greatly appreciated.

Saturday - The annual golf tournament, Par Tee kicks off! It truly is a wonderful event that allows the golfers to have fun and play for a fantastic cause. Each sister is willing to help during this event, and takes the time to make sure every opportunity is spent supporting the efforts of awareness. There is a closest to the hole competition, where golfers try to make their shot closest to the hole. Of course, all of the proceeds from the competition and the silent auction, which this year includes a signed Jimbo Fisher and Christian Ponder football, go to the overall fund.

Last year Alpha Chi's philanthropy was voted Number 1 most outstanding philanthropy on Florida State's campus. This year, we shall hope for the same outcome as we all stand together as sisters and brothers in the fight against Domestic Violence.

It's Time to Par-Tee

It's time for our PHILANTHROPY- PAR TEE! Benefiting the Women's Refuge House, a shelter for victims of Domestic Violence Awareness..

The date is APRIL 9th so keep that weekend open.

This year we are hosting events/activities all week leading up to the big event. The schedule to date is:
Tues 4/5-Walk a Mile in her shoes @ 5pm ending at a spaghetti dinner at the house
               -This will be a walk around campus(by the sorority houses) to gain attention and  
                 awareness for DVA.
      
Wed 4/6- Wear DVA shirts!

Thurs 4/7- DVA Vigil at the house after dinner
              
Fri 4/8 -Golfers invited to lunch
        
Sat 4/9- PAR TEE Registration begins at 9
            -Shot Gun start at 11
There will also be a tea time event on Saturday at Killearn for all moms, dads alumn, ect who want to come up but our not golfers and this wilk only be $10. It will start at 12 and hopefully be a great chance for more parents to come visit!
          
Sun 4/10- PAR TEA Brunch for participants. Tournament winners and contest winners will be announced and golfers are encouraged to attend 10-12!

Are you ready for a PAR-TEE?!

Hey Ladies,

So last week was a pretty relaxed week. We had the first degree of initiation which went well. The new spring members are very excited to become Alpha Chi's and their second degree of initiation has been scheduled for March 20th. Yay! Also last week we had profiles due to live in the house, the exciting news about this is that we had over 70 girls apply to live in the house!!! It made me so happy to see that so many girls want to be actively involved in the chapter.

This week we have a lot going on. We have a Dance Marathon fundraiser tonight at Ghengis Grill on Appallachee Parkway so if you are in the area feel free to stop by. :) Also our VP Philathropy, Stacia Dudley, approached me last night at chapter and told me that she had received some donations from alumnae in the last week after my last post and I just wanted to say thank you. Your support is very encouraging and we all really appreciate it.

On that note, Stacia asked me to mention that our annual event PAR-TEE is going to be on April 9th :) If any alumnae or your significant others would like to play in the golf tournament or you are in the area and would like to help out please let me know and I can get you all the information! Also we are doing something a little special this year. we realized that over the last few years we haven't been fully utilizing all the people who want to help out but can't make it to Tallahassee to participate due to work and other obligations so this year we are a virtual golfer experience for all those individuals. If you would like to be a virtual golfer to support the womens refuge house please let me know!
Well that's all I have for this blog but I do have a serious question for all my amazing alumnae out there... Do any of you play the piano that would be interested/ able to come and participate in the preference round of recruitment in the fall?!?!?! Let me know :) THANK YOU

Par-Tree Charity Golf Tournament April 9-11!

Dear Alumnae,

My name is Katherine, and I am this year’s Par-Tee Chair. Par-Tee is our annual charity golf tournament which allows us to raise money for our national altruism: Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention. All funds raised from the event will be donated to the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation and Women's Refuge House. The Alpha Chi Omega Foundation supports the educational and philanthropic purposes of Alpha Chi Omega. Refuge House is a local shelter whose mission is to provide services for battered women, their children and sexual assault survivors while working to eliminate conditions in society that allow such violence to continue.

This year’s tournament will be held the weekend of April 9-11, 2010, and it will be a great weekend to revisit the house and enjoy time with old friends! Early evening Friday we will be having a BBQ. All golfers are invited to the BBQ free of cost and it will cost other family members or friends five dollars a person. The tournament will take place  Saturday morning at Killearn Country Club with a 9:00 AM shotgun start. Golfers can arrive anytime starting at 8:00 AM to go out and take some practice swings on the range. Golfers, come hungry as breakfast and lunch will be provided! Sunday morning we invite all golfers and family members back to our chapter house for a complimentary brunch from 10:00 AM- noon. At the brunch we will be handing out awards from the tournament, announcing Saturday’s closest to the pin and longest drive winners, and there will also be the drawing from the 50/50 raffle.

We would love for all alumnae and families to come out and join us for a fun weekend! If you are interested in playing, please email me and I will send you the registration form. Please fill it out and send it in with the checks, which need to be back to me by April 1. So I could have a quick head count, if know you are interested in playing or attending any weekend activities, can you please email and tell me how many people will be attending each event.

If you cannot make it to the event but would still like to make a contribution, you can sponsor a hole for $100.00 or a donation of any amount is greatly appreciated! All checks can be sent to the chapter house:
