Holiday Cheer At Alpha Chi

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at 518 West Park Avenue! Here at the Alpha Chi Omega house, we have been getting in the holiday spirit. This past Sunday, sisters came together and decorated the house with assistance from our house director, Mama Lynn. Cookies and hot chocolate were made and Christmas music was playing to get everyone excited about the holidays!

A Christmas tree is set up in the informal, garland is wrapped around the stair banisters, and wreaths and ribbons fill the foyer and dining room. There is also a menorah in the foyer. Don't worry- we didn't forget to decorate the outside of the house! The front balcony is decorated with lights, garland, and wreathes. Bekah Leake, a senior, painted our large, wooden AXΩ letters with a holiday theme. They look great and we placed them in the front yard!

With all the decorations up, we're ready and excited for this year's holiday season. Last night we had our annual Wacky Tacky Chrismukkah date function. There was food, dancing, and a bonfire. Everyone had a great time. The sisters of Alpha Chi Omega wish everyone a wonderful holiday season!

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes

On Sunday, November 18, the ladies of Alpha Chi Omega hosted the first event of the school year to bring awareness to domestic violence!

"Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" is a fun filled event, in which male participants complete various obstacles courses, wearing heels the entire time.

Men from all over FSU came out in teams of 5 to Heritage Grove apartments to support our first fall philanthropy. The lawn was decorated with purple balloons and a stand of purple cupcakes, representing the color of domestic violence awareness. In the end, a trophy would be given to the winners of the tournament. Of course we provided the heels, but they brought their skills to run in heels with them!

"Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" is an amazing opportunity for men to raise awareness in our community about the causes and effects of domestic violence. A huge thanks goes out to everyone who participated in this years event!
Congratulations to the brothers of Pi Kappa Alpha for winning the tournament!

Last week was Beta Eta's DVA Week 2012. We hosted many events to support the fight against Domestic Violence. All proceeds benefited the women's local Refuge House:

This Sunday is the annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event in Heritage Grove. All of the money raised by the men participating in the relay race (in heels) will also go directly to the women's Refuge House!
