Congratulations Seniors!

Our seniors are busy finishing up their last college finals this week. In just a few short days, they will be walking across the stage to receive their college diplomas. The Beta Eta chapter has 61 graduating seniors and we could not be any more proud of them! These women have left their mark on our campus, our chapter, and definitely our hearts.

While it's never easy saying goodbye, we are extremely excited for our graduates to take on their futures outside of Florida State's campus. Always stay true to yourselves and keep seeking new heights! The house with the little red doors will always be your home.

We love you endlessly, Class of 2017!

McKayla Michaud #seniorSpotlight #WCW

Senior McKayla exemplifies all of AXO's five values. The chapter will be so sad to see her graduate in April. At Beta Eta, she served as the first vice president of collegiate recruitment information, VP-CRI, for the chapter during the Fall 2016 Recruitment. She set the bar so high by leading with fairness, class, compassion, and a calm personality. Currently, McKayla interns at Southeastern Plastic Surgery where alumna Kristen works.

Other fantastic highlights about McKayla:  She attended AXO Convention; she worked on a MEDLife trip to Peru, and she received a Melbourne Alumnae Panhellenic Scholarship.

Senior Spotlight: Janelle Johnston

Janelle Johnston is a current senior in Alpha Chi Omega!

“I'm a part of Seminole Productions, so I've had a lot of great opportunities with them. I'm a sports reporter for Seminole Sports Magazine, a show that airs on TV every Saturday on Fox Sun Sports! As a reporter I have to craft story pitches, coordinate and conduct interviews with athletes and coaches, and work with my editor/cameraman to ultimately produce the features. I've been apart of this for a while now so I've gotten to do pieces on numerous sports. I've gotten to interview people like Coach Mike Martin, Dalvin Cook, some Seminole football legends who have returned, etc.

"I just finished up a piece on a preview of the baseball season, and right now I'm working with the seniors of the men's basketball team reflecting on their time here at FSU. They're so much fun to work with and its never a dull moment with them. It's cool to hear their favorite moments from their four years, how they've changed since freshman year, what it means to them to wear garnet and gold, etc. Turn on Fox Sun on any given Saturday morning and you'll see me!”

Janelle is also a sports intern at WCTV, a campus connection correspondent for ESPNU, and last semester was a TA at FSU for a course called television interviewing and hosting.

“And as for what I want to do ultimately... I've wanted to be a sports reporter my whole life. I used to bring my camera with me to my elementary school games and interview my teammates and shoot myself sidelining my own games. And it's definitely what I intend on doing with my life!”

Rebecca Epstein - RAE

Rebecca Epstein has been performing in the Tallahassee area for about 3 years in various venues throughout the town. About a week ago, she had the amazing opportunity to perform on the morning news at WXTL ABC 27. “Through out the years, the support from the community of FSU and the Capitol has been overwhelmingly great. Having never done anything like that before was absolutely incredible.”

“Since graduation is right around the corner, I plan to move to Manhattan and work for a creative agency to write and record music. I do also plan on working for a music magazine to work on my prose and network with other artists. Although leaving is a bittersweet feeling, I know that this is just the tip of the ice burg of the opportunities to come during my music career.”

Senior Spotlight- Alex Schaler

Alex in Fall 2015 as President of our chapter

“When I entered Florida State as a freshman, I had no way of knowing the successes this university would bring to me as a student leader. Being elected to Alpha Chi Omega’s Executive Board as a sophomore, I was very prepared to accept my ultimate leadership role within the chapter when I was elected the Chapter President of Beta Eta in the fall of 2014. Becoming the Chapter President had always been a dream of mine, and I could not be more thankful to have accomplished this goal of leading such real, strong women. My leadership positions within Alpha Chi Omega provided me with the opportunity to be even more involved on campus. I have served on both Florida State University’s 67th and 68th Student Senate as the Seat 2 College of Engineering representative, and continued to represent my college as a member of both the Budget and Internal Affairs committees within the legislative branch of SGA. Becoming involved in Student Government was one of the most rewarding aspects of my college career, for it equipped me with a voice to make a change both within my respective college and the university. Within my discipline, I currently serve as the Florida Water and Environment Association’s Student Chapter Secretary. Additionally, I am a member of Order of Omega and the Honors Student Association. My leadership positions were very close to my heart, but would always come second to my desire to achieve academic success. Despite being busier than the average college student and accepting a rigorous major of Civil Engineering, I maintained a 3.7 GPA as well as a continued spot on the Dean’s List, and most recently, a spot on the President’s List.
Although the most rewarding four years of my life thus far are coming to a close, I am beyond thrilled for the opportunities to come in the future. In May I will be graduating with a B.S. Civil Engineering degree and will be taking my talents to Tampa, FL. I have accepted a job offer with my dream Civil Engineering Company, Kimley-Horn, which was recently ranked #25 on FORTUNE magazine’s top 100 companies to work for. The company’s Tampa location specializes in land development, an area that aligns with my passion in the civil engineering field.

Alpha Chi has given me the most memorable moments throughout my college career, and I look forward to a lifetime of involvement with the organization to help other women seek the heights as I have done at Florida State!”
